Sys Admin / DevOps Engineer

Job Description

If you are a Sys Admin passionate about renewable energy, big data, and operating large-scale distributed Linux systems, Locus Energy is looking for you! We are a fast-growing Linux/SaaS company looking for a talented Sys Admin / DevOps Engineer to work closely with our growing development team.

You should have proven capabilities and deep Linux expertise, since you will take primary responsibility for scaling our fast-growing renewable energy data & analytics platform (built in Linux/Java/Scala), while also improving security & redundancy of the platform. You will be responsible for the overall health and performance of our platform, and work will include tool development and contribution to the overall design of new platform features.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Deep expertise with Linux (SUSE and Ubuntu)
  • Experience deploying and maintaining cloud-based systems (e.g., Amazon EC2)
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring software (e.g., Nagios)
  • Experience working closely with a development team

Bonus:

  • Proficiency with Java and SQL
  • Experience scaling data systems
  • Strong security background
  • Knowledgeable about communication protocols and networking

Project Manager

Project Manager Position at a Solar Energy Technology Company

An innovative solar energy company is seeking a highly motivated individual to help in the growth of its business. This position is a Project Manager, and would be part of the core team. This person would own and lead multiple projects related the day-to-day operations of the company. The role would include managing customer support, assisting with order fulfillment and inventory management and contributing new ideas to the system and providing other support as may be needed.

This is a mid-level position for a person who is interested in both start-up business and clean-energy technologies. The ideal candidate should be self-directed, self-motivated and willing to do whatever is required to get a given job done. Aptitude for basic electrical and other technical concepts is a plus. This position requires some travel, mostly within the northeast. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are required. This is a position with growth opportunities for the right individual.

About the Company:

The Company provides monitoring/operations solutions to improve the reliability, efficiency, and accessibility of solar energy systems and other renewable energy systems. We have seen some significant market response to our initial products, and are looking for an individual to help support this growth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of customer support: hardware/software training, creation of support collateral, and ownership of Company’s support tracking system
  • Perform regular operational activities such as system status checks and weekly data reviews
  • Work closely with other project managers and sales team to manage inventory
  • Assist with order processing and fulfillment • Assist in account management activities
  • Support the company’s development team with product testing when required
  • Assist in other aspects of company growth as required

Qualifications:

  • Candidate should be self-motivated and committed to doing what is required to help build the business
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years work experience
  • Ability to work well within a small team
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) as well as presentation skills.
  • Candidate should have strong analytical skills, and be able to quickly learn new concepts
  • Candidate should be interested in the renewable energy field. Experience working in the field is useful, though not required.

  • Live in or near to New York City
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Office
